Prime Care Home is committed to handling the passing of a resident with dignity, compassion, respect, and professionalism while providing full support to the family during this difficult time.

  • Immediate Response

    • If a resident is found unresponsive, staff will immediately check for signs of life and contact emergency medical services.

    • The on-call nurse or doctor will be informed at once.

    • Privacy and dignity of the resident will be maintained at all times.

  • Confirmation of Passing

    • The passing of a resident must be officially confirmed by a licensed doctor or authorized medical personnel.

    • Prime Care Home staff do not declare passing; only medical professionals may do so.

  • Family Notification

    • The family or legal representative will be contacted immediately with sensitivity and compassion.

    • Clear and calm communication will be provided regarding next steps.

  • Respectful Care of the Resident

    • The resident will be treated with utmost dignity and respect.

    • Cultural, religious, and family wishes will be honored whenever possible.

    • The resident’s room and belongings will be secured.

  • Documentation

    • A formal incident report will be completed.

    • All details will be recorded accurately and confidentially.

  • Transfer Arrangements

    • Funeral home or morgue arrangements will be coordinated according to the family’s instructions.

    • Prime Care Home assists only with coordination, not decision-making.

  • Family Support

    • Families are given privacy and time with their loved one.

    • Staff provide guidance and emotional support when needed.

  • Personal Belongings

    • All belongings will be inventoried and returned respectfully to the family.

  • Confidentiality & Respect

    • All information regarding the resident’s passing is treated with strict confidentiality.
