Manual Handling refers to the safe way of lifting, moving, supporting, or transferring residents and objects to prevent injury to both residents and staff.
This policy ensures that all physical handling is done safely, correctly, and with dignity.
It covers:

Helping residents to stand, sit, or walk

Prime Care Home requires that:

Staff use correct lifting techniques at all times

Two carers assist when a task is unsafe for one person

Slide sheets, wheelchairs, and mobility aids are used properly

Residents are never lifted in a way that causes pain or discomfort

PPE is worn when necessary
